Forty years of community culture in the Polesine area

The Università Popolare Polesana celebrates 40 years in its modern form in 2026, while tracing roots back to 1907. The institution remains a cornerstone for education, social gathering and cultural promotion across 26 municipalities in the Rovigo province.

To mark the milestone, an itinerant week of events is scheduled from 13 to 18 April to highlight emblematic locations and engage local communities.

• Opening on Monday 13 April in Rovigo: a conversation with former minister Elsa Fornero and journalist Lina Palmerini on the future of Europe, followed by a theatrical performance on local history.
• Following stops include Badia Polesine, Stienta, Melara, Bergantino and Ficarolo, featuring book presentations, public discussions, guided tours and musical shows.
• Highlights: a tribute to Giorgio Gaber, a visit to the Carousel Museum (Museo della Giostra) and a closing theatrical performance on the Risorgimento at Villa Badoer (Fratta Polesine) on Saturday 18 April.

The program aims to encourage intergenerational exchange, civic participation and to counter social isolation through accessible cultural offerings. Many events are free; some require booking. A free shuttle service will run on 14 April between main centers in the province.
