During an extraordinary session of Pula's City Council, honorary citizenship was officially bestowed on the archaeologists who have spent more than thirty years excavating Nora. The recognition coincides with the reopening of the Giovanni Patroni Civic Museum after thirteen years.
The ceremony drew many residents and retraced the major phases of research at Nora, which uncovered important finds and structures that enhance understanding of the area's past and raise the site's international profile.
Purpose of the award: the honour recognises both the scientific rigor and the outreach efforts of the researchers, acknowledging their role in making archaeological knowledge accessible to the community and younger generations.
Local authorities note that the archaeologists' long-term work has been crucial in strengthening the territory's cultural identity and promoting Nora as one of the Mediterranean's key archaeological sites.
