On Wednesday 8 April at 6:00 PM the vernissage opens for "Propagations – Urban Symphonies", an exhibition by Fabrizio Giorgi hosted at Symphony Record Shop in Livorno. The show is part of the city's jazz month program and explores the relationship between visual image, rhythm and urban memory.
Giorgi's practice moves between painting, collage and material experimentation, alternating geometric abstraction with freer, instinctive approaches that reuse found materials and visual fragments. For the series on display the artist recovers music-related posters and fragments, tearing and reorganising them on paper so that musicians — notably saxophonists — appear as vivid presences within the painted surface.
Vibrant colour fields, painted interventions and collage elements expand around the images to visually evoke sound energy, improvisation and musical breath typical of jazz. The works create a dialogue between figurative and abstract languages, turning urban visual fragments into poetic images that recall the sonic memory of the city.
This exhibition offers visitors an accessible encounter with contemporary intersections of art and music, proposing a visual counterpart to the jazz-focused events of the month and highlighting the cultural ties between soundscapes and urban imagery.
