Primi dei Primi in Sansepolcro: a pasta festival in the historic village

From 1 to 3 May 2026 Sansepolcro dedicates a full weekend to pasta with "Primi dei Primi": a festival featuring cooking demonstrations, historical exhibitions, tastings and events spread throughout the historic center.

The town was chosen also for its history: it hosts the site of Italy's first industrial pasta factory. The festival highlights local heritage, artisan shops and the Valtiberina pasta tradition.

Main program

• Historical exhibition at Palazzo Alberti: photographs, archival materials and testimonies on the role of women in the local pasta factory.
• Masterclasses and lessons on pasta techniques and pairings, available with advance booking.
• Pasta Street Chef Experience in Piazza Torre di Berta: Saturday 2 and Sunday 3 May, from 11:30 to 15:30 and 18:00 to 23:00 (Sunday until 21:00); entry costs €30 and includes five tastings and drinks.
• Chefs and awards: thirty professionals from fine dining, pastry and gelato sectors take part; the Primi dei Primi Award is presented to notable figures in Italian cuisine.
• Widespread events: gala dinners with wine pairings, the midnight spaghetti on 2 May and the amateur competition "Pasta Chef".
• Pasta shops: empty storefronts in the historic center host local pasta makers for sales and demonstrations.
