Week overview (4–10 May 2026)

Between 4 and 10 May 2026 Rome hosts a mix of free cultural, sporting and natural attractions: exhibitions at Museo di Roma (Palazzo Braschi), the Roseto Comunale in bloom, open tennis events and guided visits to the restored Forte Aurelia.

Main events and museum visits

  • Internazionali BNL in Piazza del Popolo — A temporary court is set up in Piazza del Popolo from 28 April to 17 May 2026; during the week you can attend free training sessions, exhibitions and some pre-qualification matches. Access: Flaminio metro (Line A) and many bus lines.
  • "It's Happening Again" by Adrian Tranquilli — Museo di Roma, Palazzo Braschi — On view until 24 May 2026; free entry for Rome residents with ID, paid tickets for other visitors. The show includes a large-scale installation referencing the Joker motif.
  • Roseto Comunale on the Aventine — The rose garden is in full bloom: open daily 08:30–19:30 with free admission. Recommended for visitors seeking botanical displays within the city. Access: Circo Massimo (Line B) plus a 10-minute walk.
  • Forte Aurelia — Reopened after restoration, the fort offers free guided tours by reservation; reopening active since 22 April 2026. Access: bus 31, 81, 982.

Regularly accessible museums and spaces

  • Civic museums — Many civic museums grant free admission to residents of Rome and the Metropolitan City for the whole of 2026 upon presentation of ID.
  • Spazio WeGil (Roma Terzo Millennio) — Exhibitions and activities with free access until 30 June 2026; opening hours generally 10:00–19:00.
  • Other sites — Museums such as Museo Pietro Canonica, Museo di Casal de' Pazzi and private galleries may offer free access or require booking; check timetables and reservation rules.

Practical tips

  • Verify updated opening times and possible restrictions directly with each venue before you go.
  • Carry a valid ID to access resident discounts where applicable.
  • Book guided visits in advance when required (for example at Forte Aurelia).

Note: this guide refers to the week of 4–10 May 2026 and also notes events running on broader dates (e.g. Internazionali until 17 May and exhibitions until 24 May). Confirm availability and schedules with the venues.
