The spring excavation at Monte Budellone in Prevalle concluded on Saturday, April 4, 2026. In just two weeks of fieldwork researchers recovered over 1,600 new artifacts, raising the site's total to approximately 5,900 finds.
These discoveries reinforce the importance of the site as a Paleolithic context, frequented in ancient times by Neanderthal groups.
The municipal administration highlighted the scientific value of the results and thanked the excavation team for their work. Recovered materials will undergo cataloguing and detailed analyses to reconstruct occupation patterns and land use during the Pleistocene.
For updates: scientific reports and any future displays will be published by local authorities and participating institutions once conservation and study phases are complete. Check municipal channels for announcements on publications and organised visits.
