“Alfa Romeo Avio” on show at the Museo Storico dei Motori for ASI’s 60th anniversary

From 10 April to 31 May 2026, the Museo Storico dei Motori e dei Meccanismi (part of the University of Palermo museum system) hosts the exhibition "Alfa Romeo Avio. Engines for aviation": a thematic display tracing Alfa Romeo’s contributions to aircraft engines through archival documents, images and technical exhibits.

The exhibition opens the celebrations for the 60th anniversary of the Automotoclub Storico Italiano and has been organised in close cooperation with major museum institutions and sector partners.

  • Exhibition highlights: 34 thematic panels featuring photographs and drawings from the Alfa Romeo historical archive.
  • Key exhibits: Alfa Romeo 126 radial aircraft engine (1934), a T.58 turboshaft engine used on the HH-3F helicopter, an Isotta Fraschini ID36 railway engine, a mounted locomotive drive room and a 1950s Seagull 100 Plus outboard motor.
  • Upgraded sections: renewed naval and railway displays and a dedicated area of historic Moto Guzzi motorcycles.
  • Partners: Museo Storico Alfa Romeo, Museo Storico dell’Aeronautica Militare, 37th Wing A.M., 82nd SAR Centre, Trenitalia Sicily and regional ASI clubs.

On 10 April the programme includes a conference reflecting on ASI’s role in protecting and promoting Italy’s motor heritage; a display of historic cars will accompany the event outside the Museum.

Practical information: the exhibition runs until 31 May 2026. Admission is free but requires prior reservation. For opening hours and booking, contact the Museum or consult the University museum system’s official channels.

This exhibition is recommended for enthusiasts of industrial and aviation history, collectors and anyone interested in the technological evolution of motor engineering.
