“Po Grande LEADER — A Po for Everyone” launched

Parma, 10 April 2026. The cooperative programme was presented to bring together GALs, provincial authorities and parks to promote and improve access to the Great River.

The initiative aims to network experiences and resources along the Po between Lombardy and Emilia-Romagna, focusing on environmental protection, slow mobility, inclusion and cultural promotion.

  • Main partners: GAL Terre del Po 2.0, GAL Polesine Delta del Po, Po River Basin Authority, the provinces of Cremona, Mantua and Rovigo, Parco del Mincio, Veneto Delta Park and other local bodies.
  • Funding: €194,000 provided by the Lombardy and Veneto regions.
  • Objectives: increase knowledge, attractiveness and usability of the river with attention to accessibility, inclusion and environmental sustainability.
  • Planned activities: accessibility studies for accommodation and catering, development of barrier-free cycling routes, feasibility studies for intermodal services, research and support for micro and small businesses, recreational and health-oriented routes.

Actions will be coordinated by the two GAL partners and will run through 2027, aligning with the MAB UNESCO Po Grande Biosphere Reserve initiatives. A communication plan foresees public meetings, study visits and engagement with local communities to share best practices on sustainable river tourism.
