Giulio Archinà, hailed by local press as a master of photography, completed a three-week cultural reportage at the Balzi Rossi Prehistoric Museum in Ventimiglia, part of a Digital Library campaign within a PNRR-funded cataloguing project.
The work, described as photographic «impressionism» for its ability to capture the history and essence of places, involved documentation aimed at enhancing the archaeological heritage: the Balzi Rossi host some of the most anthropized caves in Europe, with human presence dating back over 200,000 years.
Alongside the Ventimiglia assignment, Archinà was active in Sicily and Calabria:
Local reports indicate Archinà will continue his contribution in Gerace until 30 March 2025.
The initiative combines photographic research, digitization and institutional cooperation to make prehistoric heritage and reclaimed cultural assets more accessible to the public.
