‘The Man and the Red Leaf’ wins 'Caffè e Latte' section at Cave literary prize

On Saturday 11 April 2026, at the Aula Maestro Velluti in the Palazzetto della Salute Rita Dappi in Cave, the winner of the first edition of the “Caffè e Latte” section—dedicated to children’s and young people’s literature within the Caffè Corretto - Città di Cave Literary Prize—was announced.

The prize went to “The Man and the Red Leaf” by Michele Marchitto, illustrated by Juan Charrenton and published by Lavieri. The initiative engaged readers of all ages and a jury of about 50 people—children, adults, teachers, high school and university students—who judged the seven shortlisted books with equal voting weight.

  • Poesie Notturne by Cristina Bellemo (ill. Flavio Ruotolo)
  • Wolf! Wolf! by Serena Ballista (ill. Letizia Iannaccone)
  • La nottataccia by Bruno Zocca
  • Solo il seme lo sa by Silvia Vecchini and Agnese Baruzzi
  • The Man and the Red Leaf by Michele Marchitto (ill. Juan Charrenton) – winner
  • B, il buio e il buco by Nicole Tecchio
  • Sentieri by Guia Risari and Andrea Calisi

Produced by the cultural association Caffè Corretto, the section aims to bring young readers closer to books through intergenerational reading experiences. The official award ceremony will take place at the end of May 2026 during the “Un Parco di Libri” Reading Festival (29–31 May) at Villa Clementi and the Teatro Comunale of Cave, with the expected presence of the winning author and/or illustrator.
