Perloz reveals itself in the heart of the lower Aosta Valley, surrounded by chestnut and beech woods, standing out as one of the most characteristic villages of the region. The municipality of Perloz was awarded the Bronze Medal of Military Valor for the indomitable struggle of its population against the Nazi-fascists.
The village offers breathtaking views over the Lys Valley, ensuring emotions at every glance. The valley stretches towards Monte Rosa, with unique and unrepeatable glimpses that permeate the village, from its narrow streets to its vast open panoramas.

What to See in the Village of Perloz
Perloz is a lively village, full of things that must absolutely be seen during a visit. A must is the Museum of the Resistance – Brigata Lys, located in the historic building where the Third Lys Brigade was based during the war. Here, the life and courageous actions of the partisan brigade, protagonist of the first act of resistance, are documented.
Also worth exploring is L’école d’autrefois, where objects and furnishings are collected and displayed, telling the story of a way of life that no longer belongs to our time.
Another unmissable stop is the Sanctuary of Madonna della Guardia, located in a panoramic position that guarantees an unforgettable view. According to tradition, an idol of the Madonna and Child was found here by chance.
Among the many things to see, visitors are encouraged to admire the ancient wine press in the village, an interesting testimony to the history of viticulture and rural traditions of the area. Also noteworthy is the hamlet of Tour d’Héréraz, with its ancient tower and the Pont Moretta, which for centuries has overlooked the deep gorge of the Lys stream.
Traditions and Events
Perloz is a village that balances the quiet and silence typical of mountain landscapes with the lively life of a community nestled among the rocks. Famous is the “Fétha dou Pan Ner”, held on the penultimate Sunday of July. The preparation of the traditional rye bread begins a few days earlier, turning the event into a true competition of bread-making.
Also not to be missed is the traditional Chestnut Festival, which has been held for decades at the beginning of November. The event includes competitions for roasting chestnuts, with the coveted “Golden Chestnut” prize awarded to the winner.
Exploring Around the Village of Perloz
From Perloz, several trails branch out into the surrounding woods, leading to high-altitude alpine pastures. Famous among them is the Sentiero dei Salassi, an itinerary that blends nature and archaeology in its exploration. Not far away lies the Sanctuary of Notre-Dame-de-Trésor, a pilgrimage destination and a place of great spiritual charm.
Close to the historic village, one can easily visit Lillianes or continue towards Gressoney, following the valley among medieval castles immersed in wild nature, with many traces of Walser culture.
