Easter Weekend at Florence Museums: openings, guided tours and family activities

The city’s museums will be open throughout the Easter holidays, presenting a varied program of guided visits, educational paths and hands-on workshops for adults and families. Events highlight both permanent collections and temporary exhibitions, with some sessions focused on local traditions.

Key notice: the regular Metropolitan Sunday originally scheduled for the first Sunday of the month has been postponed to April 12. Many activities have limited capacity and require advance booking.

Highlights and how to join

  • Palazzo Vecchio: palace tours including exclusive rooms such as the Camerino di Bianca Cappello; living history routes inspired by Giorgio Vasari; family-friendly experiences like "Life at Court" and themed workshops. Special Easter-focused workshops explore the Florentine tradition of the "Scoppio del Carro" and multisensory visits linking history and chocolate.
  • Palazzo Medici Riccardi: guided tours of the historic residence and the exhibition Firenze Déco. Atmospheres of the 1920s, which examines Florence’s central role in the spread of Art Déco (weekend sessions).
  • Museo Novecento: guided visits for adults and family activities connected to current exhibitions, including a focus on Georg Baselitz and special presentations on Ottone Rosai.
  • Other open venues: guided tours are also available at the Complesso di Santa Maria Novella, the Cappella Brancacci, Museo Stefano Bardini and MAD – Murate Art District, each offering a blend of historical interest and contemporary programming.

Practical information

Booking and access: many events have limited availability; booking in advance is strongly recommended.
