Sunday 5 April 2026 falls on the first Sunday of the month, a date when numerous museums managed by the Regional Directorate of National Museums in Tuscany allow free admission. The initiative benefits both residents and visitors and includes several state institutions across the region.
On Easter Monday (Pasquetta) many museums remain open with regular ticketing. This creates a long cultural weekend to visit collections, monumental complexes and archaeological sites.
At Museo di San Marco the Sala del Beato Angelico has been reopened with a refreshed display presenting 33 panel paintings by the master, including works recently restored or rarely exhibited. The exhibition Rothko in Florence brings five paintings by Mark Rothko into dialogue with selected cell frescoes, chosen for shared colour and material affinities, tracing connections between spiritual themes and Renaissance devotional imagery.
