The exhibition RI… VITA. The design of other worlds, on display at Museo Plart in Naples, has been extended through April 30. The extension responds to strong public interest. The show stages a dialogue between historic wooden sculptures and contemporary plastic objects to investigate continuity and change in object-making.
Curated by Claudio Gambardella and produced by the Fondazione Plart, the exhibition juxtaposes 24 historic wooden sculptures from Val Gardena with 24 plastic items from the museum's collection. It aims to prompt reflection on the relationships between:
The display highlights how objects of different materials and eras can serve as tools to read technical skills, identities and production histories.
The exhibition provides an original perspective on design as a continuous practice—encompassing gestures, skills and knowledge that link artisans, designers and industrial processes. It is an opportunity to see how materials (wood and various plastics) record cultural and technological shifts.
Museo Plart holds one of the most comprehensive historical collections dedicated to plastic, assembled through the founders’ donations and made up of thousands of objects that document the evolution of materials and design in Italy and beyond.
