Rudiae Archaeological Park (Lecce): special visits on 25, 26 and 30 April 2026

Rudiae Archaeological Park opens its gates for three spring events aimed at the general public, schools and families. Activities combine guided tours enriched with digital tools, historical reenactments and educational workshops for an engaging, immersive experience of the site.

Program

  • Saturday 25 April, 16:30 – Guided tour supported by multimedia: tablets with virtual tours, panels with photos, virtual reconstructions and graphic illustrations. During the visit the Legio VIII Avgvsta Salento will perform a combat reenactment in the arena to recreate ancient Roman spectacles.
  • Sunday 26 April, 17:30 – Guided tour with LIS (Italian Sign Language) interpretation to facilitate participation by deaf visitors or those with hearing difficulties.
  • Thursday 30 April, 10:00 – Workshop "L’Acchiatura: team-game", an educational activity for school groups and families organized by 34° Fuso.

What to see

Rudiae shows archaeological layers from its Messapian origins (7th century BC) to Roman development (from the 3rd century BC and the imperial era). The itinerary highlights finds, stratigraphy and the Roman amphitheatre dating to Trajan’s period, illustrating the site’s urban evolution and ancient public spectacles.
