In recent years the Colosseum Archaeological Park has seen a notable recovery in visitor numbers following the pandemic, with an increasing presence of domestic visitors and younger audiences. Beyond standard tours, the Park has launched educational, social inclusion and wellbeing initiatives aimed at strengthening ties with the local community.
Park management has adopted measures to encourage ongoing participation, especially among young people. Key actions include:
The Park has been implementing projects that connect art and wellbeing, aimed at people with neurological conditions, sensory disabilities, mobility issues and social vulnerability. Activities are developed in cooperation with local associations and are intended as ongoing pathways rather than isolated events.
The Park runs an educational calendar mainly aimed at children aged 7–12, with mostly outdoor workshops, treasure hunts among monuments, nature activities and interactive paths that bring the archaeological heritage to life. A dedicated indoor educational space at the Orti Farnesiani is under development to broaden the offer.
To join workshops, guided visits and health- or inclusion-related initiatives, check the Park's official schedule and booking procedures. Membership cards and school or family programs often require advance reservation or have limited capacity.
Why visit: beyond historical and landscape value, the Park provides educational and inclusive experiences that turn a visit into an opportunity for social connection, wellbeing and learning.
