Palazzo Moroni: art, history and green spaces in Bergamo Alta

Where: Palazzo Moroni, Via Porta Dipinta 12, Bergamo Alta (Bergamo).

Built in the mid-17th century, Palazzo Moroni presents a route combining frescoed rooms, notable artworks and landscaped areas. The ceremonial courtyard, the grand staircase and the reception rooms painted by baroque artist Gian Giacomo Barbelli narrate the Moroni family's history. Among the highlights are three works by Giovan Battista Moroni, including the well-known Cavaliere in rosa, which stand out particularly under the spring light.

The 19th-century rooms display period furnishings, textiles and objects that reconstruct daily life in the residence, with unique spaces such as the Chinese salon and the Turkish room. Outside, the hanging gardens overlooking Colle di Sant'Eufemia and the extensive ortaglia — almost two hectares of historic farmland — provide biodiversity and panoramic views, perfect for a restorative break.

Special event: Silk

On Saturday 16 and Sunday 17 May 2026, Palazzo Moroni hosts an event dedicated to silk, featuring vintage markets, workshops, installations and talks that trace the journey from mulberry to fabric. The initiative is part of the project "Percorsi tra Bergamo e Brescia: Seta, sul filo di una storia" and highlights silk's importance in the region's economy and culture.

The program includes accessible activities developed in collaboration with the association L'abilità as part of the "Museum for Everyone" project, to support participation by people with intellectual disabilities.
