Artist Nuccio Loreti has donated an installation titled Scatto rosa to the city of Catanzaro. The work, placed in Piazza Giacomo Matteotti near the Monumento al Cavatore, is crafted in stylized iron and depicts the silhouette of a cyclist, marking the Giro d'Italia 2026 stage start from the city.
The piece uses dynamic lines to evoke the cyclist's speed and to reference the profile of the three hills that define the city's layout. Its open form allows light and sightlines to pass through, incorporating natural elements such as wind and sea into the viewer's experience.
More than a tribute to cycling, Scatto rosa is conceived as a meeting point between sport, memory and urban landscape: a contemporary public artwork that engages with the city and encourages passersby to consider the urban space as an active stage for art.
