Located in the historic center at Piazza delle Erbe, Palazzo Maffei functions as a house museum combining baroque architecture, historic furnishings and a private collection that ranges from antiquity to contemporary art. It is a convenient stop for visitors exploring Verona on foot.
Built in the 17th century for the Maffei family, the palace is one of the city’s notable baroque landmarks. After conservation and adaptation works, it opened to the public as a house museum to display the private collection of Luigi Carlon. The displays highlight original decorative features, offering a coherent narrative between architecture, furnishings and exhibited works.
The exhibition route covers several historical periods: Renaissance and Mannerist paintings, rare medieval pieces and 20th-century art. Notable items include works attributed to Domenico Brusasorzi and Paolo Farinati, a medieval triptych associated with the Master of San Zeno, plus sections dedicated to historic furniture and contemporary international works.
Wear comfortable shoes suitable for historic floors and allow at least an hour for the main galleries. If you are interested in specific sections of the collection, check in advance for temporary shows or thematic tours offered by the museum.
Note: opening hours and services may vary: always consult official museum communications before traveling.
