Palazzo dei Musei di Modena has announced its 2026–2027 program, featuring two international exhibitions in the museum's new wing. The shows are the result of national and international collaborations and supported by public funding.
Period: 24 September 2026 – 24 January 2027. Around 150 images from the Atelier Robert Doisneau in Montrouge will be on display, curated by Gabriel Bauret. The retrospective offers a comprehensive overview of the French photographer's work, including iconic shots and archival materials.
Planned period: February – June 2027. Curated by Francesco Paolo Campione, Marco Fagioli and Moira Luraschi, in collaboration with the Museo delle Culture in Lugano. The exhibition will explore the artistic and historical context of Japanese prints and paintings of the Edo tradition.
The municipality renewed its partnership with Silvana Editoriale and allocated a total public contribution of €130,000 to support the two exhibitions. The previous season's Giorgio De Chirico retrospective exceeded 33,000 visitors in four months, confirming public interest in high-quality offerings.
Educational pathways and collateral activities are being developed. For the Hokusai exhibition, a collaboration with the Philharmonic of the Teatro Comunale under the direction of Hirodumi Yoshida is planned to enrich the program with related musical events.
