What to see

  • Permanent collections: highlights include the Ingrao Collection (works by Balla, Boccioni, Morandi) and the Civic Collection of Sardinian Artists, with a room dedicated to Francesco Ciusa.
  • Temporary exhibitions on show:
    • Ritorni. The masters of the twentieth century in dialogue | Faces and stories of Sardinia (1913–1964) – on display until 30 June 2026; a selection of sixteen representative works.
    • Antonio Ligabue. The great exhibition – at the Palazzo di Città; exhibition period: from 28 November 2025 to 7 June 2026, with guided tours and related events.
    • Tea and its ceramics – at the Stefano Cardu Museum of Siamese Art, featuring items on loan and insights into tea rituals (check the calendar for exact running times).

Activities and events (May 2026)

  • Thursday 14 May, 16:30 – "First steps in reading": readings for children 0-2 years. Free entry; max 15 participants; booking required.
  • Sunday 17 May, 10:30 – "Arts and Gardens": workshop for children aged 6-10. Fee €4; limited places; booking required.
  • Sunday 17 May, 16:00 – special guided visits to the collections and temporary exhibition. €3 supplement in addition to the standard ticket; booking required.
  • Wednesday 20 May, 16:30 – themed readings for children 3-5 years followed by a creative workshop. Fee €4; limited places; booking required.
  • Thursday 21 May, 16:30 – creative workshop for children 6-10: spring landscapes using recycled materials. Fee €4; limited places; booking required.
  • Saturday 23 May, 11:00 – Insta-Walk in the Public Gardens: a photographic walk for a public Instagram profile. Fee €8; max 10 participants; booking required.
  • Sunday 24 May, 11:00 and 16:00 – special guided tours of the Antonio Ligabue exhibition with the museum's art historians. €3 supplement in addition to the standard ticket; booking required.

Practical information

Bookings: required for workshops, guided tours and the Insta-Walk. Free-flow visits to exhibitions typically do not require booking unless otherwise indicated for specific events.

Estimated costs: children’s activities usually €4; guided tours and special events have a €3 supplement on the admission ticket; Insta-Walk €8. Many activities have limited capacity (10–15 people).
