Monte Bibele: the archaeological park to be enhanced

Discussions focus on the termination of a research agreement and the transfer of management to local organizations, aiming to expand cultural offerings and improve infrastructure.

Management and main issues

Local authorities state that entrusting management to the association Arc.a, in partnership with the municipality, is intended to provide more continuous and structured governance compared with a simple research agreement. Opposition members are requesting explanations about the termination of the agreement with the Department of History, Culture and Civilization of the University of Bologna and are calling for medium- to long-term plans for site protection and promotion, including the Fantini Museum.

Actions carried out and planned

The municipality reports several concrete measures underway or scheduled:

• Cultural programme: a schedule of lectures, guided tours, outreach activities and headline events (activities foreseen also for 2025).
• Yunka Festival: an event that drew strong participation and is planned to be repeated in September.
• Transport services: municipal shuttle service to connect Monterenzio and the park during events.
• Infrastructure works: restoration of roads and trails affected by landslides, funded with PNRR resources and local contributions.
• Planning: the 2026-2028 Municipal Programming Document lists promotion of the Fantini Museum and stabilising critical infrastructure management as priorities.
