Pablo Atchugarry in Rome: “Sculpting the Light”

The Galleria Nazionale d’Arte Moderna e Contemporanea in Rome presents a retrospective devoted to Pablo Atchugarry, bringing together more than fifty works that trace his sculptural research over the past thirty years.

Location: Galleria Nazionale d’Arte Moderna e Contemporanea, Viale delle Belle Arti 131, Rome.

Dates: 19 May - 21 June 2026

Curator: Gabriele Simongini

What to see

The exhibition arranges both outdoor installations and indoor gallery pieces, highlighting the artist’s continual exploration of materiality and light.

  • Number of works: over 50 sculptures including outdoor installations and gallery pieces.
  • Materials: marble (notably Carrara statuario), alabaster, steel, bronze and wood.
  • Monumental outdoor works: "Search of the Future" (2018), "Viaje hacia los sueños" (2024) and "Albero della vita" (2024).
  • Donation: the artist donated the white marble work titled "Splendore" to the Gallery's collection.

Why visit

This exhibition is recommended for anyone interested in contemporary sculpture that revisits classical references through a spiritual and material language. The layout encourages contemplation of surface and light, mass and void, and emphasizes the artist’s hands-on approach to carving.
