Classical High School Night: Empedocle opens its doors to the city

On Friday, March 27, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM, the Empedocle Classical and Musical High School in Agrigento will join the twelfth edition of the National Classical High School Night, an event that promotes humanistic studies.

The chosen theme, “Homo sum…”, guides a programme of student-led performances and interdisciplinary reflections that connect classical heritage with contemporary culture.

• School atrium: opening with a short play by actor and alumnus Paolo Macedonio;
• Main hall: presentations by teachers and students exploring humanitas across languages, history and sciences;
• Academic guest: Prof. Roberto Sammartano (University of Palermo) will discuss Greek history and heritage education;
• Church of San Pietro: performance by the school's saxophone ensemble and a dramatization of the third Orphic Hymn dedicated to the Night.

The initiative, conceived by Rocco Schembra and promoted by the Temenos association, involves hundreds of classical high schools across Italy and aims to showcase the relevance and vitality of classical studies. The event is open to the public and invites civic participation in the cultural dialogue between past and present.
