Night of Museums 2026 in Campania: key info for 23 May

On Saturday 23 May 2026 the European Night of Museums takes place across Campania. Many museums and archaeological parks will offer evening openings with a symbolic entrance fee of €1 (where legally required free admissions still apply). The initiative highlights collections and sites with special evening programs.

Participating museums and sites

Here is a selection of institutions that announced participation and published opening times. The list may be updated: always check official sources before visiting.

  • Gallerie d'Italia – Palazzo Zevallos Stigliano (Via Toledo, Naples): special opening from 20:00 to 24:00, reduced ticket €1; visit to the exhibition “OBEY: Power to the peaceful”.
  • National Railway Museum of Pietrarsa: evening opening from 19:30 until 01:00 (last admission by 23:30).
  • MADRE – Donnaregina Museum of Contemporary Art (Naples): openings and activities connected to current contemporary exhibitions.
  • Archaeological Park of Herculaneum: special opening from 20:00 to 24:00, with guided tours, mythological narrations and readings.
  • Archaeological Park of Pompeii: participation expected; specific times and program to be announced.
  • Roman Theatre of Benevento and other provincial sites
  • National Archaeological Museum of Ancient Allifae (Alife, CE): visits scheduled from 19:30 to 23:30 (last admission at 23:00).
  • National Archaeological Museum of Teanum Sidicinum (Teano, CE): evening opening and local initiatives.

Practical tips for visitors

  • Check official websites for updated opening times and reservation rules; some sites may require pre-booking or have limited entries.
  • Carry an ID to claim any legally required free admissions.
  • Plan to arrive ahead of closing times to avoid missing last entry.
  • Consider transport and parking options, especially for archaeological parks outside urban centers.

Why go

The Night of Museums allows you to experience cultural sites in a new light: exhibitions, guided tours, performances and educational activities often run specifically for the evening, making it a great chance to (re)discover Campania's heritage.

Note: schedules and programs may change. Always consult individual museum websites for final details before your visit.
