Giorgia Severi: Losing Cultural Landscapes

Location: Project Room, MIC Faenza, viale Baccarini 19, Faenza (RA), Italy

Dates: 23 May – 13 September 2026 (opening: Friday 22 May at 18:30)

The MIC Faenza hosts "Losing Cultural Landscapes", a solo exhibition by Giorgia Severi curated by Giovanni Gardini. The show presents works from the larger Ghost Landscapes project (since 2016), focusing on the rapid transformations affecting Romagna’s rural scenery—farm buildings, emblematic trees and cultural markers altered by climatic, geological and human factors.

Born in Ravenna in 1984, Severi combines painting (including frottage), photography, video and ceramic sculpture to build a visual archive of disappearing natural and cultural landscapes. The MIC presentation includes recent works and ceramic pieces produced with Faenza workshop Ceramica Gatti 1928, with additional pine-tree ceramics to be shown during Argillà-Italia (4–6 September).

Why visit

  • Explores the intersection of cultural memory and environmental change.
  • Showcases mixed media approaches: painting, photography and ceramics.
  • Offers insight into the rural identity and material heritage of Romagna.

Practical information

  • Visiting hours: Tuesday to Sunday and public holidays 10:00–19:00; closed on Mondays.
  • Opening event: 22 May 2026, 18:30.
  • Tickets & contacts: tel. +39 0546 697311 — [email protected]
  • Curator: Giovanni Gardini

This exhibition is recommended for audiences interested in art that engages with ecology, regional history and multidisciplinary practices linking tradition with contemporary research.
