Three guided walks in the historic centre of Forlì

A series of three morning walks offers an accessible way to discover architecture, labour history and urban memory in Forlì’s centre. The visits accompany a photographic exhibition on the former Filanda Maiani façade and are free for participants.

Dates and meeting points

• Saturday 14 March – meeting at 9:45 AM in via Orto del Fuoco, departure at 10:00 AM.
• Saturday 21 March – meeting at 9:45 AM at Parco della Pace (entrance from via Piave 33), departure at 10:00 AM.
• Saturday 28 March – meeting at 9:45 AM in via Pedriali, departure at 10:00 AM.

Short route descriptions

1. Alleys and courtyards of Borgo Schiavonia (14 March)
An itinerary through hidden courtyards and historic buildings that highlight the urban fabric and civic history of the neighbourhood.

• Main stops: former Filanda Maiani, former Monastery of Santa Maria della Ripa, courtyard of Palazzo Manzoni, courtyards of Palazzo Torelli Guarini, vicolo Gaddi, vicolo Sassi, Palazzo Sassi Masini, Palazzo Maldenti, Palazzo Albicini.
• Local association representatives will take part in the conversation.

2. Women’s work from the 19th to the early 20th century (21 March)
A thematic walk focusing on industrial and craft sites where women and girls were the main workforce, tracing social and economic change in the city.

• Stops include: piazzale Operaie delle Filande, former Filanda Maiani, former Filanda Brasini, former Trento Fratelli Battistini shoe factory, former Ditta Monti.
• A small refreshment will be offered back at the starting point.

3. In the heart of the historic centre (28 March)
A route through some of the most evocative corners of the centre, from towers to small squares that convey Forlì’s identity.

• Highlights: Torre Numai, the small square of the former Fish Market, the voltone delle Graticole, vicolo San Domenico, the park of the Residenza “Pietro Zangheri”, piazzetta Fratelli Ruffini (also known as the puppets’ square).

Practical information

The walks are organised by neighbourhood committees, cultural associations and the local Lions Club as part of a heritage care initiative. The guide is Gabriele Zelli. Each walk lasts about two hours, takes place only in good weather and does not require prior booking.
