Rome launches its first Olio di Roma IGP Festival: culture, taste and territorial identity

From April 10 to 21 the Italian capital will host the first Olio di Roma IGP Festival, organized by the Consorzio Olio di Roma IGP. Ten events across seven locations will turn archaeological sites and historic venues into stages for an immersive experience focused on extra virgin olive oil as an interpretative key to Rome's history and landscape.

The programme, timed with Rome's foundation celebrations, recalls ancient traditions such as the Palilia and is aimed at residents, tourism operators and younger audiences alike.

• Tasting masterclasses and meetings with local producers;
• Edutainment activities for schools and families;
• Guided tastings and cultural visits to historic sites;
• Participation in sector events like Vinitaly and the presentation of the "L'Eterno" Award to figures and organizations that promote olive oil culture.

Goal: to establish Olio di Roma IGP as a symbol of local identity and a tool for territorial promotion, highlighting the supply chain and regional biodiversity.

Aligned with the Mediterranean Diet and Italian culinary tradition, both UNESCO-recognized, the Festival aims to strengthen the connection between food quality, wellbeing and landscape protection.
