Appia Wine Road launched: a collective approach to wine tourism on the Appian Way

Appia Wine Road is the new association bringing together seven wineries operating along the terminal stretch of the Appian Way in the Brindisi and Salento area. The initiative aims to create a shared strategy to enhance wine, landscape, culture and hospitality within a UNESCO World Heritage context.

  • Member wineries: Cantina Botrugno, Cantine Risveglio, Masseria Incantalupi, Masseria Masciullo, Tenute Bellamarina, Tenute Lu Spada, Tenute Rubino.

The association plans to promote integrated wine tourism through cultural events, tastings and immersive routes that connect local wine production with historical and landscape assets. Key objectives include environmental sustainability, collaboration with universities and local institutions, and accessing public funds for territorial development projects.

Expected benefits: beyond strengthening territorial identity, Appia Wine Road seeks to produce positive economic spillovers for hospitality, catering and crafts, help destagionalize tourism flows and open new opportunities for younger generations.

The public presentation will take place on Thursday, April 9, 2026 at 18:00 at Bastione Carlo V (via Bastioni San Giorgio, 64 – Porta Mesagne) in Brindisi; the event is open to institutions, sector operators and the media and will conclude with a tasting of wines from the member estates.
