The Coelmo Napoli City Half Marathon is set to experience its most extraordinary edition yet. On Sunday, February 22, 2026, with the title of European Capital of Sport embellishing the year, the "fastest half marathon in Italy" arrives at the starting line with staggering numbers: 10,000 participants, a sold-out achieved well in advance that certifies the success of an event that has become a must-have in the international running calendar.
These numbers tell a story of an increasingly international vocation: with 117 nations represented and 52% of entrants coming from abroad, the Neapolitan half marathon confirms itself as a powerful driver of tourism appeal. Runners aren't just racing against the clock, but to live an immersive experience in one of the world's most fascinating cities. The beating heart of the event will be at the Mostra d'Oltremare, which from February 20th will host the Expo and services for bib collection, changing rooms, and bag drop, creating a sports village open to the city.

If the participation is record-breaking, the course is textbook-perfect. Defined by the organizers of Napoli Running as the fastest and most spectacular in the Mediterranean, the 21.097 km route is a true catwalk showcasing Naples' beauty. It starts from Viale Kennedy, immediately immersing runners in the embrace of the gulf.
Sixteen of the twenty-one kilometers literally unfold along the seafront, gifting runners the breathtaking backdrop of Mount Vesuvius. After passing through the Galleria Laziale, the route emerges at Mergellina and continues along Via Caracciolo, with the profile of Castel dell'Ovo standing as a sentinel. The course then proceeds along Via Acton, Via Marina, diving into the pulsating heart of the city between Corso Umberto I and Piazza Municipio, with the Maschio Angioino watching over. The finish line is back at the Mostra d'Oltremare, where runners will be welcomed by the evocative choreographic display of the Fontana dell'Esedra.
A flat and fast itinerary, combined with mild temperatures (around 10-13 degrees Celsius), creates the perfect mix for chasing a personal best. It's no coincidence that Naples is the only Italian city to hold both the men's (Yeman Crippa with 59'26" in 2022) and women's records for the half marathon.

Speaking of Crippa, the Italian champion will be at the start again, ready to duel with Pietro Riva and Kenyan Brian Kirui Kwemoi in a challenge that promises to be of the highest level.
The big new feature for the 2026 edition is the official opening to fast walkers. Thanks to collaboration with the Italian Federation of Sport Walking (Federazione Italiana Camminatori Sportivi), the time limit has been extended to 3 hours and 30 minutes, with dedicated pacers guiding walkers towards paces of 2h30, 2h45, 3h00, and 3h30. A choice that broadens participation without altering the race's fast identity, making it an even more inclusive event.

The Half Marathon's effect, however, extends far beyond sport. The figures released on the eve paint a very clear picture: the organizational machine will mobilize over thirty thousand people over the event weekend, including athletes, companions, and staff. This influx fills hotels, restaurants, and commercial activities during a period, February, traditionally considered low season. The economic spin-off generated in 2025 exceeded 6 million euros, and estimates for this special edition are set to grow even further.
This is confirmed by the attention from institutions and the synergy with local companies such as ANM, EAV, Asia, and ABC, which guarantee dedicated services, and the partnership with Coelmo, a leading company that gives its name to the event.
The competitive race on Sunday will be the highlight of an entire weekend dedicated to movement. On Saturday, February 21st, space will be made for the Family Run & Friends, a 2 km walk open to everyone, families and children, with proceeds donated to the Santobono hospital. And then the Relay X2, a non-competitive relay race over two legs (10 km + 11.097 km) that combines sport and team spirit.
With the World Athletics Label Road Race certification and the 5-Star recognition from European Athletics, the Coelmo Napoli City Half Marathon 2026 is more than just a race. It is the demonstration of how a major sporting event can transform into an engine for tourism promotion, social inclusion, and economic development, gifting the world an image of Naples that is dynamic, welcoming, and more in motion than ever. Online registrations are officially closed, but the city is ready to rev its engines.
