Upsilon Gallery presents the first solo exhibition in Italy by Nigerian-born artist Móyòsórè Martins. The show gathers a new body of work that investigates themes of vigilance, identity and transformation through heavily layered surfaces and mixed media techniques.

What to expect

Themes and visual language

The recurring figure of the "Watchman" anchors Martins' visual mythology: inspired by West African guardian figures and shaped by personal experience, the archetype operates as a mutable psychological presence. Martins' process alternates layering and erasure, producing canvases that register simultaneous acts of making and unmaking.
