From April 1 to October 5 the National Museum of Cinema in Turin presents My Name is Orson Welles, an exhibition dedicated to the multifaceted career of Orson Welles. Produced through international collaboration, the show highlights the intersections between cinema, magic and audiovisual experimentation that define Welles' work.
Installed along the spiral ramp of the museum's central hall in the Mole Antonelliana, the exhibition offers a narrative, multisensory route that includes previously unseen materials.
The route showcases objects from public collections, private archives and the museum's own Orson Welles holdings, offering a comprehensive view of Welles as a total artist: technical experimenter, radio storyteller, performer and illusionist.
Visitor tips: book in advance when possible and allow at least two hours to fully engage with audiovisual materials and the site-specific installation that takes advantage of the Mole Antonelliana's distinctive architecture. Consider combining the visit with the panoramic lift to complete your museum experience.
This exhibition is an opportunity to rediscover a major twentieth-century figure and to explore how cinematic language can merge with performative and illusionistic practices to astonish the audience.
