Madre Museum (Naples): call for a new director

The Fondazione Donnaregina, which manages Museo Madre in Naples, has launched the selection process for a new director. The call is available on the Foundation's official website and the Campania Region portal. Application deadline: 30 April 2026.

Role and responsibilities

Under the Foundation's statute, the director will lead the artistic and cultural programming and oversee its implementation according to the Board of Directors' guidelines. Main duties include:

• Developing exhibition and research programmes focused on contemporary art;
• Coordinating educational and outreach activities and museum operations;
• Managing allocated resources and contributing to budget preparation;
• Providing artistic direction and fostering national and international relations.

Core requirement: the Museum Project

Applicants must submit a Museum Project outlining exhibition programming, research and educational initiatives, and a strategic vision for the Foundation's position within the national and international contemporary art scene.

Selection process

• Initial assessment: evaluation of qualifications and titles.
• Selection of the top five candidates (minimum score required: 60/100) who will be invited to an interview.
• Interview: assessment of the submitted project, knowledge of regional cultural heritage, and expertise in cultural policies and public fund management. Interviews may be held in English.

Evaluation panel

The examination panel will consist of five members drawn from the Board of Directors and external experts, including university professors and specialists in cultural heritage, economics and cultural management.
