A few kilometers from Bologna’s historic center, in the historic headquarters of the Ducati motorcycle company, lies a place that is not just a museum but a true celebration of Italian mechanical ingenuity and racing spirit: the Ducati Museum. Inaugurated in 1998 and completely renovated in 2016, this exhibition space tells the story of over 90 years of motor excellence, combining the company’s sporting soul with its extraordinary capacity for technological and stylistic innovation. Located inside the Borgo Panigale production plant, the museum is an integral part of Ducati’s identity: visiting it means entering a universe where every motorcycle embodies engineering, design, and passion.
The history of Ducati began in 1926 — not with motorcycles, but with the production of radio components. Only after World War II, with the creation of the famous Cucciolo, did the Bolognese company enter the world of motorbikes, paving the way for a revolution in sport motorcycling.
The Ducati Museum retraces this extraordinary evolution through four thematic paths:
The exhibition, enriched with historical materials, spans from the first motorized bicycles to the iconic Desmo models and the modern Panigale and Multistrada, true symbols of Italian-made power.
The Ducati Museum is far more than a historical collection — it is a manifesto of performance culture and relentless innovation. Every model represents not only a milestone in motorcycle engineering but also a chapter in an epic story of challenges, triumphs, and revolutions.
Visitors are not passive observers but participants in a journey through Ducati’s sporting DNA, discovering the behind-the-scenes of two-wheeled manufacturing. Even those who have never ridden a motorcycle are captivated by the mechanical beauty and charisma radiating from every model. The museum speaks to everyone, telling a human story of dreams, ingenuity, and determination.
What truly sets the Ducati Museum apart is its connection to a dynamic ecosystem. In addition to the museum visit, guests can join the Factory Tour, a guided route through the production lines where today’s Ducatis are born. This unique experience allows visitors to see frames, engines, assemblies, and tests being built in real time. Tours are offered in multiple languages and often led by experts and company technicians.
The museum also hosts special events, talks with riders and engineers, themed days, and official motorcycle presentations. Educational programs for schools and groups combine history, physics, technology, and creativity, including hands-on workshops and interactive sessions. Temporary exhibitions on design, sports photography, and motorcycle culture further enrich the offer.
Through this constant activity, the Ducati Museum is not only a tourist attraction but also a global hub for Ducati enthusiasts, a space for connection, exchange, and inspiration.
The Ducati Museum is located at Via Cavalieri Ducati 3, in Borgo Panigale, Bologna, easily reachable by public transport. From Bologna’s central station, take the suburban train to Borgo Panigale and walk for about 10 minutes. Alternatively, buses 13 and 87 stop near the factory. For those traveling by car, parking is available, and the museum is fully accessible to visitors with disabilities.
