On April 25, 2026 participating museums and cultural sites will offer free admission as part of a national initiative to broaden access to Italy's cultural heritage. The Ministry of Culture has chosen the silhouette of Castel del Monte in Andria as the official image for the campaign.
Castel del Monte is one of Italy's most iconic medieval monuments: its unique octagonal plan and its ties to Emperor Frederick II make it a significant historical landmark. Listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site, it embodies the connection between local history and public cultural enjoyment.
Using Castel del Monte as the campaign image highlights the goal of making culture a shared good: initiatives like this promote civic engagement and enhance the visibility of UNESCO heritage that preserves Italy's historical legacy.
