Museums Uniting a Divided World: meeting at the Royal Palace of Caserta

On the occasion of International Museum Day, on Monday 18 May the Royal Palace of Caserta hosts a public meeting organized by the Regional Coordination Campania of ICOM Italy. The event, titled "Museums Uniting a Divided World", focuses on the museum's role as a space for dialogue between communities, generations and cultures.

The chosen setting is significant: the Bosco Vecchio, close to Michelangelo Pistoletto's artistic installation "Third Paradise", offers an ideal stage to discuss sustainability, social inclusion and collective wellbeing through shared cultural practices.

The morning begins with an introduction by Alessandra Drioli, Regional Coordinator ICOM Campania, followed by a talk from Tiziana Maffei, Director of the Royal Palace of Caserta, on "Museums: architectures of dialogue". Other contributors include:

  • Alessandra Cirafici – coordinator of the national PhD in design for Made in Italy, University of Campania Luigi Vanvitelli
  • Tiziana D’Angelo – director of the Archaeological Park of Paestum and Velia
  • Fabio Pagano – director of the Archaeological Park of the Phlegraean Fields
  • Angela Tecce – president of the Donnaregina Foundation for Contemporary Arts
  • Luigina Tomay – regional management, National Museums of Campania
  • Paola Villani – director of the Department of Humanistic Studies, Suor Orsola Benincasa University

In addition to institutional speeches, a participatory session will collect concrete proposals and co-design future projects. The aim is to empower audiences as drivers of change for Campania's cultural heritage, promoting collaborative practices and inclusive approaches.
