XI Placito Capuano — Capua, 16–17 May 2026

Capua marks the roots of the Italian language with the XI Placito Capuano, a reenactment recalling the 960 A.D. document considered among the earliest notarial acts in the vernacular. The event combines historic parades, performances and guided tours of the city's monuments.

Program

  • Saturday 16 May: "Il Placito dei Giovani" — historical parade and procession, staged readings and the Placito Capuano concert at the "G. Martucci" Auditorium of the Liceo Musicale "L. Garofano".
  • Sunday 17 May: "Open Monuments and the reenactment of the Placito trial" — guided visits to Lombard churches, museums and routes organised by the Touring Club Italiano.

Monuments and visits

The event offers special openings and guided walks that highlight Capua's architectural heritage, with stops at Lombard churches such as San Salvatore a Corte and San Michele, plus local museums. Routes focus on both the monumentality and the linguistic-historical context of the Placito.

Guests and contributors

  • Alessandro Ciambrone — architect and artist, holder of the "Muro della Libertà" Guinness World Record.
  • Angela Ragozzino — poet and writer, contributing readings and literary input.
  • Daniela Di Maggio — founder of the cultural association "Giò Gio Vive", active in promoting music and cultural initiatives.

Practical information

Venue: Piazza dei Giudici, Capua. The event is promoted by the Touring Club Italiano – Club di Territorio Terra di Lavoro together with local partners.
