Autore: Redazione 02/08/2025 19:23

Just a few steps from Milan, in the green Ticino Park, you can visit the village of Morimondo, listed among the “Most Beautiful Villages of Italy.”

Founded in the 12th century by monks from Burgundy, Morimondo is best known for its Cistercian abbey.

What to see in Morimondo

Among the most important attractions of Morimondo is the Abbey of Santa Maria di Morimondo, a true masterpiece of Cistercian architecture, which preserves elegant interiors, frescoes, and a cloister that tells the story of monastic life.

It is also possible to visit the monastery, divided into the refectory, dormitory, and the ancient chapter house.

Directly from the abbey square, you can reach the historic village of Morimondo, characterized by rural courtyards.

Events, culture, and traditions

Every year, on May 1st, the historic Feast of the Abbey takes place, with medieval reenactments and craft markets.

In summer, food festivals dedicated to rice, cheese, and local products are held.

What to see around Morimondo

Morimondo is located in the Ticino Park, a natural reserve ideal for kayaking trips along the river.

Nearby, you can visit Abbiategrasso, with its Visconti Castle, and Vigevano, with Bramante’s tower.

So, pack your bags and make sure to include the village of Morimondo in your travel itinerary—don’t forget to mention it in your social media stories.
