Monteriggioni dresses in the Middle Ages: Medieval Festival (9-12 July 2026)

For four days the walled village of Monteriggioni turns into a living stage celebrating medieval customs, music and crafts. The festival is suitable for families, history enthusiasts and visitors seeking an immersive experience in a Tuscan borgo.

Dates and location: 9–12 July 2026, historic centre and walls of Monteriggioni (Piazza Dante Alighieri).

What to see and do

  • Itinerant performances and animated routes through the village;
  • Early music, period dances and costumed shows;
  • Historical combat demonstrations and military reenactments;
  • Demonstrations of traditional crafts and artisan stalls;
  • Pyrotechnic displays on highlight evenings;
  • Taverns and local cuisine served in historical settings;
  • Medieval Banquet: official opening on Thursday 9 July at 20:00 in Piazza Alighieri (dinner-show by reservation).

Organization and access

The festival is promoted by the Municipality with the support of local associations. Some events, such as the banquet, require booking through the Monteriggioni tourist office. Expect high attendance during weekends; arrive early or check official channels for logistical updates.

Practical tips

  • Wear comfortable shoes for walking on cobblestones and the castle walls;
  • Book the dinner-show well in advance if you wish to attend;
  • Consider public transport or shuttle services on busy days to avoid parking issues;
  • Take time to walk the walls and enjoy the panoramic views of the surrounding countryside.

The Medieval Festival is an ideal opportunity to explore Monteriggioni beyond the event, discovering its history and local flavors.
