Milano Art Week 2026: the city lights up with contemporary art

Milano Art Week returns for its tenth edition with a city-wide program involving museums, galleries, foundations and independent spaces. This year’s schedule features more than 490 events presented by roughly 260 organizations, showcasing projects across languages, generations and contemporary research practices.

Highlights in museums

The core of the event is the exhibition program and openings in the city's museums. Notable this year is Ghost Track, which places contemporary interventions in dialogue with permanent collections not focused on modern art, offering fresh interpretations of historical heritage.

• Site-specific works and installations within civic museums and libraries;
• Contemporary pieces positioned alongside historical collections to create new readings;
• Examples include installations at the Museo del Risorgimento (Thomas Jeppe, Markus Schinwald), a sculpture by Maurizio Cattelan in the Egyptian section of the Civic Archaeological Museum, and works throughout the Castello Sforzesco (Alina Chaiderov, Latifa Echakhch, Gina Folly, Hans Josephsohn, Matteo Nasini, Virginia Russolo).
