PROSA_contemporanea hosts Intangible Metamorphosis, a solo exhibition by Uemon Ikeda curated by Alberto Dambruoso. The show combines painting and a site-specific installation to reframe the gallery space and explore the interplay between the visible and the unseen.
The exhibition places different means of expression on equal footing: Ikeda's painting — moving between figuration and abstraction and often incorporating written elements — and his aerial installations made with red thread, which can redefine familiar spaces or create new spatial perceptions. The Butoh performance underlines the transformative, metamorphic quality that informs the project.
Short biography: Born in Kobe in 1952, Uemon Ikeda trained in Japan before relocating to Rome, where he developed an artistic practice that merges Eastern sensibilities with Western experimentation. His work ranges from painting to installation, including interventions in historically charged public sites.
Practical information: opening on 10 April 2026 at 6:30 PM; Butoh performance at 7:30 PM. Exhibition on view until 30 April 2026. For detailed opening hours, access and ticketing, consult PROSA_contemporanea's official channels.
