Spring Markets in Caserta: local flavors and the Royal Palace of Caserta

From March 28 to April 6, Caserta hosts the Spring Markets—a stop of the Gusto Italia tour—featuring stalls, tastings and street performances between Piazza Gramsci and Viale Douhet, a short walk from the Royal Palace of Caserta, a UNESCO World Heritage site.

Practical information

  • Dates: March 28 - April 6
  • Location: Piazza Gramsci and Viale Douhet, next to the Royal Palace of Caserta
  • Opening hours: continuous from 10:00 AM to midnight
  • Palace visits: consider combining the market visit with the national "Sunday at the Museum" initiative, which offers free access to state museums and archaeological parks on the first Sunday of each month

What to expect at the markets

The event brings together producers and artisans from many Italian regions. Highlights include:

  • typical cured meats and cheeses; Apulian taralli and other baked specialties;
  • olive oil, wines, regional specialties such as 'nduja and Calabrian licorice;
  • artisan chocolate, traditional Easter sweets and regional pastries;
  • dehydrated fruit, Giffoni hazelnuts, freshly prepared nougat and crunchy sweets;
  • handicrafts: jewelry, pottery, olive-wood items, leather goods, lavender products and custom-made gifts.

Organization and tips

The initiative is organized by Associazione Italia Eventi and is sponsored by the Municipality of Caserta and UNOE (National Union of Event Organizers). The markets are an opportunity to discover Made in Italy excellence and to pair shopping with a visit to one of Italy’s most significant historic and artistic sites: the Royal Palace of Caserta.

Visitor tips

  • Try to visit the Palace early in the morning or on the free first Sunday of the month to avoid peak crowds at the markets.
  • Bring some cash and check storage needs for perishable purchases (cheeses, cured meats).
  • Enjoy street performances and food stalls to sample local specialties.

The Spring Markets offer a pleasant reason to revisit the Royal Palace of Caserta and to explore regional food and craft traditions from Campania and beyond.
