City councilor Francesco Lisurici (Forza Italia), a member of the tourism technical committee, has called for transparency and consultation before any change, asking that the matter be brought to the city council for a formal vote.

Lisurici points out that the tourist tax is paid by visitors to fund welcome services and initiatives benefiting both tourists and residents. He noted that some associations may have misunderstood proposals discussed at technical meetings, presuming an immediate hike that has not been formalized or recorded in official minutes.
