Marsala between history and solidarity: Garibaldine Celebrations 2026 begin

Marsala will commemorate the 166th anniversary of the Landing of the Thousand with a programme of official and cultural events that link historical memory with social engagement.

• 8 May 2026 – Opening in contrada Amabilina: 10:30 dedication of Piazza Paolo VI; 17:30 dedication of the Social Housing Centre to Chiara Lubich.
• 11 May 2026 – Institutional day: wreath-laying at Villa del Rosario (09:00), tribute to Giuseppe Garibaldi in Piazza della Vittoria (09:30) and the Landing re-enactment in Piazza Unità d’Italia (10:30); evening inauguration of the Quartiere Inglese at the Waterfront Florio (19:30).
• Alongside the ceremonies, the cultural initiative "Lo Sbarco dei Libri" offers literary meetings and presentations throughout the celebrations.

The municipal administration invites residents and authorities to participate in the events to reaffirm the city’s identity and promote its historical and social heritage.
