The town of Pomigliano d’Arco has officially presented its bid to become Italian Book Capital 2027. The initiative, promoted by the municipality, involves local associations, schools, bookstores, foundations and cultural organizations and aims to make reading a concrete tool for social and civic development.
Speakers at the presentation included Mayor Raffaele Russo, Culture Councillor Giovanni Russo, cultural historian Annarita Ricci, scholar and writer Carmen Gallo (a finalist for the Premio Strega Poesia 2026) and Francesco Cristiani, president of the "Officine della Cultura" Foundation. Moresco emphasized that Pomigliano’s strength lies in a lively reading community, which the city offers as its distinctive asset.
The bid stems from collective work and aims to consolidate an ecosystem of libraries, festivals, bookstores and school projects, turning these experiences into shared and accessible cultural heritage.
