May Museum Month and European Night of Museums 2026 at the Sapienza Museum Hub

When: Saturday, 23 May 2026 | Event hours: free entry and venue openings from 15:00 to 24:00. A full day of guided tours, educational workshops and performances across Sapienza’s museum venues, suitable for families, school groups and enthusiasts.

  • Museum of Etruscan and Italic Antiquities (MAEI) – open 15:00-24:00. Opening of the exhibition Etruscan Blue, Etruscan Gold at 18:00. Evening guided tours at 21:00, 22:00 and 23:00. Children’s workshops: "Etruscan Puzzle" and "Indecipherable? Writing in Etruscan". Morning seminar and evening concert/performance on Etruscan culture.
  • Geography Museum – open 15:30-24:00. Exhibition Sound Geographies with continuous guided tours from 18:00 to 22:00. Children's workshops on building and representing mountains plus geographic story readings.
  • “Giuseppe Sergi” Anthropology Museum – open 18:00-23:00. Guided tours at 21:00 and 22:00. Family workshop Meet the Ancestor, exploring key stages of human evolution.
  • Contemporary Art Laboratory Museum (MLAC) – open 15:00-24:00. Retrospective Alì Assaf. Works 1973-2011 with a curator-led tour at 18:00. Children's workshop Paper Windows from 15:00; evening screening and performance by the artist.
  • Museum of Origins – open 15:30-24:00. New prehistoric displays and artifacts from the Ledro pile-dwelling. Guided visits 22:00-23:00. Workshops The Life of a Hunter-Gatherer and A Day as an Archaeologist.
  • Comparative Anatomy Museum “Battista Grassi” – open 18:00-24:00. Guided tours at 19:00, 20:30 and 22:00; educational activities and workshops by reservation.
  • Herbarium Museum – open 15:00-24:00. Evening workshop Treasures of the Herbarium Museum at 22:30.
  • Merceology Museum – open 15:00-19:00. Continuous guided tours and a creative children's workshop Invisible Weaves in two sessions at 15:30 and 17:30.
  • Zoology Museum – open 15:00-24:00. Continuous guided tours and activities for families and schools.

How to take part: entry to the Sapienza museum venues is free from 15:00 to 24:00; some activities and workshops require booking. Check the official Sapienza Museum Hub channels for precise schedules, reservations and access rules.
