MA*GA: collections and future — From Kandinsky to Scheggi

MA*GA museum in Gallarate is experiencing strong visitor numbers thanks to an exhibition that brings together international figures and key Italian artists. The show, also conceived as a platform for research and emerging creators, is open until April 12.

  • Attendance: nearly 30,000 visitors so far, with a target close to 40,000 by closing.
  • Works on display: about 130 pieces, including roughly 20 works by Wassily Kandinsky.
  • Featured artists: Paul Klee, Jean Arp, Joan Miró, Alexander Calder, Antoni Tàpies, Lucio Fontana, Osvaldo Licini and other notable names.
  • Museum background: founded in 1966 as the Civic Gallery of Modern Art of Gallarate, MA*GA continues to balance collection care and innovation.

Director Emma Zanella highlights the importance of dialogue between international art and the Italian scene, emphasizing the museum's role as an open space for research and younger artists.

Practical tips for visiting: check the museum's official website for opening hours and entry rules, consider buying tickets in advance during busy periods, and allow at least 1–2 hours to explore the exhibition.

MA*GA aims to combine collection display with initiatives for young artists and research: those interested in curatorial projects or opportunities for under-35 creators should contact the museum's offices for the latest information.
