Madonie: European Geoparks Week 2026

From 23 May to 7 June 2026 the Madonie area becomes a hub for geotourism, nature and local traditions with the Madonie UGGp Week. The initiative offers outdoor activities for nature lovers, including trekking, guided nature walks, geosite visits and cultural events.

The programme, coordinated by the Geopark team and supported by local authorities, involves schools, associations and communities to promote territory knowledge and sustainable tourism development.

• Opening (23 May): visit to the Scopalacqua geosite (Petralia Sottana), walks in Collesano, activities at Gal Hassin (Isnello) and the traditional transhumance festival in Geraci Siculo.
• During the week: guided treks, nature excursions, geosite tours and educational workshops in towns such as Scillato, Gangi, Caltavuturo, Pollina and Polizzi Generosa.
• Featured events: screening of the documentary "Maroneum la quinta stagione" at Cinema Grifeo in Petralia Sottana and hikes to the Gole di Tiberio.
• Closing (7 June): final day with environmental activities at Piano Battaglia.
