Lucio Fontana, The Final Cut: event documentary in cinemas

From 25 to 27 May 2026 Italian cinemas will screen the documentary Lucio Fontana, The Final Cut, produced by Good Day Films and Nexo Studios and directed by Andrea Bettinetti. Narration is provided by Miriam Leone, and the film presents a broad international portrait of one of the 20th century's most influential artists.

Authorized by the Fondazione Lucio Fontana, the documentary assembles archival materials — many previously unseen — alongside interviews with artists, curators and scholars to trace Fontana's creative evolution from early sculptures and ceramics to the iconic slashes and holes that transformed contemporary art.

What to expect and why it matters

The film adopts a multidisciplinary perspective, connecting art, architecture, technology and philosophy. The narrative follows a geographic and biographical itinerary through the key places of Fontana's life and career.

The film is presented with the patronage of the Municipality of Milan and the Argentine Consulate General in Milan.

Screenings: 25, 26 and 27 May 2026. Advance tickets went on sale from 23 April 2026. This limited theatrical run is a unique chance to experience an in-depth cinematic exploration of Fontana's work.
