“Italy of the Regions” on RaiPlay: a new section for regional heritage

“Italy of the Regions” debuts on RaiPlay

From 11 March 2026 Rai and the Ministry of Tourism have launched a dedicated section on RaiPlay to showcase Italy's regional heritage. The initiative provides at least 300 hours of annual content, including original productions, documentaries and archival material selected to tell the stories of landscapes, local traditions and regional identities.

• Landscapes: visual itineraries highlighting regional scenery;
• Art and culture: historic centers, traditions and local heritage;
• Food and wine: productions exploring the ties between cuisine, territory and identity.

The section is free and available on-demand on RaiPlay — a platform that in 2025 reported over 23 million users — and is designed to present a balanced overview of Italy's regions with regularly updated programming. Content selection is carried out jointly by the Ministry of Tourism and Rai Com to ensure visibility across all regions.

Alongside new productions, the project will draw on Rai's archives and employ an audiovisual approach aimed at broad audiences. Sergio Santo, CEO of Rai Com, highlighted the editorial value of the partnership, which aims to make RaiPlay a digital showcase for the country's diverse regional identities.
